Grand Canyon Colorado.

This is a big map, dictated by the need to convey the granduer of the canyon itself. As a result the hunting can be slow due to the distances the deer are spread over the map.
The scale is still less than  half the actual size of the  canyon itself and the distance from rim to river is a little over eight hundred yards, wheras in real life it is over a mile and a half.
There are also a few frame speed issues on the upper levels, to get the feeling of distance and space a six hundred yard veiw distance has been set and this slows it down a little on the large flat mesas up on the rim. Down in the canyon itself the frame speeds increase the closer you get to the river. Looking through a scope or binos will supercharge the frame rates.
You might also get to see a few flying deer on this map, due to the many steep faces and cliffs  and the manner in which the 2005 engine deals with them..

Run the map in wildlife mode a few times to get an idea of where to be looking for the animals, it is best to hunt from the top down and glass the mesas and valley floors continuously. However there are several tracks on the map to allow access from the bottom to the top if you so desire.

Thanks go to all those whos custom object models have been used in the map. Jimbo1952, gas 56, abslayer, and many whos work is un-named.
You may not totally enjoy hunting here, but im sure you will find it quite different.
Cheers

DanthemanBoone.

As usual excellent, excellent map Dan. Frame rates on ultra for me lowest: 16-17, Highest: 38-40. You really should put together a map tips and tricks tutorial, you seem to accomplish things in a short time it would take most of us months to do. Well done, Cheers to ya.

Thanks for the feedback jimbo.
My greatest concern was for the frame speeds and playability of the map for those with older computers.
If you are able to play on Ultra you have put my worries to rest.

As for putting things together in a short time, two and a half weeks building here at 5 to ten hours a day.
At least 4 days building the tracks just so players could get back up from the bottom to the top levels..
You are the undisputed short time map making champion, not me.

Good luck with the competition.
