I am trying to load objects in the map, I got a message, says "Error while reloading this object type, it was erased! Ha."??
I am following Magnums tutorial.

If memory serves me correct, that was a joke the makers of the editor put in, but allow Dan to chime in, he knows way more then me!

It is a joke, not to funny when you first start making maps...but most certainly a joke. Just ignore it you're doing fine

There should only be one object that does that.
I cant remember what it was.
Just use something else similar and you should be ok.

However
I Win 7 ,win 8 and now win 10 you may get a message saying object failed to load which does not have the  addeed comment "it was erased Ha."
These operating systems sometimes add extra symbols after the filename which corrupts the filename.
It is not the editors fault but I believe it has something to do with the predictive text options in those operating systems.

I never had the problem my self with win 7 but some of our map makers did and they were unable to find a solution other than manually entering the required filename correctly into the level terrain file.
Thay gave up making maps.
I believe Lucky was one of those affected.
But now It happens quite often to me and I have found a method to overcome the problem.

I will make a tutorial and post it over the next couple of days.
Hang in there .

Editor error.. Failed to load file.

Sometimes when attempting to load a file from the file browser in the dh2005 editor you may get the following error message.
This error often occurs when using later operating systems like win 7, Win 8, /8.1 and Win 10.
These systems sometimes add extra characters after the file Type name .
EG
Custom levels\samplelevel\amtractrain\locomotive_ct[3dm].j3d
May load as
Custom levels\samplelevel\amtractrain\locomotive_ct[3dm].j3d#&*
This corrupts the file name and it cant be loaded.

File names should always load with the File type designation png, jpg, stx  etc as the last characters.

If you get this message, close the file browser and reopen it.
Select the object again in the file browser, and this time highlight the filename in the file name selection box below the browser list.
Right click on the highlighted file name and click on copy from the drop down box.
The file should now load correctly in the file browser.

When loading water stream files you will not get a message if the error occurs.
The filename will appear to have loaded correctly.
Before clicking on apply check your filenames by left clicking on them and using the right arrow key on the keyboard to move to the end of the file name.
If there are any extra characters after the stx file designation simply back space them out.
Then click apply and carry on.

not true Dan, I think he is talking about after you choose your object, set the parameters, and hit the GREEN button, it says it every time in mine.

Jimbo
Not referring to the stupid joke file.
This is the error that can occur with any file when using the later operating systems.
It does not happen in win XP

This was a problem that first appeared in win 7 and we had a series of posts about it in this thread.
http://www.hagadoo.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2214

I have been successfully using this newer method to overcome the problem in Win 10 for the last six months or so.
I hope it works for anyone else using Win 7 to 10 operating systems.

...............................................

Now .. about that green button
I have never used it in all these years I have been making maps.
So I loaded an object and tried it.

Yes .. I got the error message you talk about.
My suggestion.. leave the bloody green button alone.
You dont need to use it at all as far as I can tell.

Load your object in the file browser.
click ok
Set your parameters in the "random scale" and  'random y position" boxes, then go down to the object instances, select your file name and click add.
Right click in the map to place the object
Done
No Problemo.
